St. Nicholas School Ballina

Fringe Festival

Pupils from St Nicholas’ School created wonderful art pieces, the exhibition of which is entitled, The Possibilities.
Our school community is most grateful the official launch of Ballina Fringe Festival took place in our school on Friday 7th Oct. 2022.
Our pupils and members of Craoibhín art club, worked collaboratively to create amazing artwork, with Claire Griffin as art facilitator. This art project took place during the school based July Summer Programme 2022. Members of Craoibhín art club and pupils from St Nicholas’ school shared an equal platform through their participation in this project. Two groups, supported each other in the project, to ensure their contribution and involvement in this local community project is visible and celebrated in Ballina and beyond!

The artwork will be on display in the Jackie Clarke Centre from Tuesday 11th October, for the duration of the festival. Members of the public are welcome to view the pieces at our school, please arrange a visit through our school office.
Special acknowledgment to the members of Craoibhín art club and manager Emma Donoghue, who provided wonderful support to the pupils, working hand over hand to create amazing art work together throughout the project. Their kindness and enthusiasm created an atmosphere of enjoyment for all. We extend appreciation to Creative Ireland from which funding for the project was provided. We acknowledge, Claire Griffen’s commitment to and vision for the project. Claire demonstrating an understanding of our pupils’ interests and abilities and the art work speaks for itself! We extend our appreciation to Anne-Marie Flynn, from Ballina Fringe Festival, for her support as we planned the exhibition to launch this year’s fringe festival. Thank you to all who attended the launch at our school, in particular we thank pupils and staff from St Dymphna’s and St Mary’s schools.
