St. Nicholas School Ballina

What Parents Are Saying

I am the parent of a 16.5 year old boy who has attended St Nicholas' school since he was 4. The care and attention he has received from the wonderful staff at the school over the years has been just wonderful. He loves school and thoroughly enjoys all the activities he's involved in throughout the school day. There is always such a happy and positive environment within the school which is fantastic for all the children. His older sister also attended St Nicholas' until 2019 before she unfortunately passed away from complications following surgery, and I can only say that the love and support we received from the school community during that difficult time was amazing and they continue to do so, as she is fondly remembered by the staff and is mentioned every time we visit the school which is an immense comfort to our family.

We are very happy with our daughter’s school placement at St Nicholas’ School. She is very content and happy at school. Once she sees her uniform in the morning, she giggles with excitement. When the bus arrives, she is so happy hopping on, there is never an issue. Our little girl has made great progress at school and we notice she has really grown in confidence. The staff are aware of our daughter’s needs and support her very well. The school works closely with physio and OT which adds to the wonderful level of care and support for her

Our daughter recently graduated from St Nicholas’ School. She had 13 wonderful years there. The school provided a safe haven for her, due to her high medical needs and due to the fact that she is non-verbal. Her time in St Nicholas’ school had a very positive impact on her, she could learn in very stimulating environment. The care and support she received down through the years was excellent. We watched our daughter grow, both socially and intellectually. We are thrilled to have such wonderful memories from St Nick’s and feel privileged to have such a wonderful school on our door step. Our daughter graduated a very sociable and confident young lady. Following our daughter’s graduation, we have remained socially connected to the school Our daughter loves to receive the invitations to visit her former school and catch up with staff and pupils. Thanks to all the wonderful team at St Nick’s.

Our son started at St. Nicholas Special School in September. I have to say the way the school handled the transition from pre-school to here was amazing. The principal invited us to visit during the July Summer Programme which helped our son become familiar with the school environment. They always make sure to let you know that no matter the concern or worry they were only a phone call away. The opportunities that the staff and school give our children are unbelievable. The number of activities that he has already participated in, such as cooking and gymnastics, it truly is a wonderful place. The independence he has developed from being able to get the bus to school and home is just another bonus. To see the smile on his face when he gets on the bus knowing that he is happy and content at school is everything I could have wished for. He settled in so quickly and truly loves his school. His speech and his play have already improved and so has his general attitude, he has been so happy and content from morning to night. The care and love he has received from all the teachers and staff is second to none. He is far more regulated in the evenings as he gets all his sensory needs met in school. I am so glad that we enrolled him in St. Nicholas’ School, it really was the best decision we made
