St. Nicholas School Ballina

July Summer Programme 2022

Building on success of previous years July 2022 provided a most enjoyable experience for our pupils at St Nicholas’ School.

Our school runs the July Summer Programme each year. This provides an opportunity for our pupils to experience a variety of activities, both in school and within the local community. Throughout the programme we welcome visitors to our school. One of the highlights associated with July Summer programme 2022 was a wonderful art project facilitated by Claire Griffin (artist). We thank Claire for her attention to detail in preparation for the project and for ensuring participation of all pupils. Pupils displayed great enthusiasm in the art project. Participants from Craoibhín Ballina provided wonderful support for pupils throughout. The collaboration between the school and Craoibhín Ballina provided opportunities for new learning and enhanced the social element of our July Summer Programme 2022.  Sincere thanks for Emma Donoghue, Manager of Craoibhín Ballina for her support with the project. We look forward to the display of pupils’ art work during the Fringe Festival later this year. Our pupils enjoyed daily visits from Rosie Connolly, (Music Therapist). Rosie’s individual and group sessions provided great enjoyment for pupils and we thank her for considering each pupils’ needs, to ensure participation by all.

Sincere appreciation is extended to all the visitors who enhanced our pupils’ enjoyment – visitors included, personnel from Ballina Fire Station, musicians from St. Patrick’s Music group, under the direction of Chuck Dunford. The ice-cream man and some lambs also visited us. Pupils enjoyed time in local playground, walks to the shops, bus trips to Crossmolina, Killala and Belleek as well trips to the cinema.
All pupils were presented with a booklet, containing a photographic overview of their involvement in a range of activities – sincere thanks to all teachers involved for compiling beautiful photo collections for each pupil. Parents have expressed their gratitude for the programme this year, made possible by a wonderful group that worked on the programme this year.
